Operations support internship (international)-Yaounde-Cameroon

The UNICEF Internship Programme offers qualified and eligible students or recent graduates at both Headquarters (HQ) and Country Offices (CO) the unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF's work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.

To be considered for an internship with UNICEF, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree programme or have completed their degree within the last two years; and
  • Be a native English-speaker with a good command of French;
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records

    • Purpose of the internship:

    UNICEF Cameroon has ongoing requirement to manage all operational functions of the Country Office and Regional Offices including, finance, accounts, personnel, administration, supply, electronic data processing and private sector relations, in support of a country programme of cooperation.

    Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Operations, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

    • Support the analysis of operational data and key cost indicators
    • Support the Greening team with analysis of green indicators, preparation of proposals and implementation of Greening initiatives
    • Provide assistance to the vehicle management team and analyse key efficiency indicators
    • Assist with filing taking place within each Section
    • Support the Operations Associate with the preparation and review of presentations and other key operational related documents in English
    • Support the Operations team with the preparation for the self assessment

    Start date: 1 March, 2018

    Duration: 16 weeks (the duration of an internship is normally between six and sixteen weeks. The internship can be extended, however, the total duration of the internship should not exceed six months).

    Duty station: Yaoundé, Cameroon

    Requirements: 

  • A first-level university degree is required in business, finance, economics or any related discipline;
  • Experience in data analysis and ability to present findings;
  • Experience in an international institution is desirable;
  • Demonstrated interest in operations and encouraging environmentally-friendly initiatives in a humanitarian/development context;
  • Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others;
  • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
  • Ability to handle large amounts of data;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
  • English speaking , good command of French is required;
  • Previous international working experience will be highly valued.
